OUR CARDS ARE GETTING A SERIOUS UPGRADE. HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.

{beginAccordion}

What new features are coming to debit cards?

  • Contactless or tap-to-pay payment options: Minimize contact while maximizing convenience! The new debit cards will allow you to simply hold your card to select card readers to make purchases quicker than ever before. Search for this icon at checkout to see if it’s tap-to-pay enabled:
  • The latest in EMV chip technology: Your personal and card information is more secure thanks to the unique encryption of the chip versus the magnetic strip.
  • Digital wallet options: Shortly after you receive your new debit card, you’ll have access to add it to your favorite digital wallet! Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay will be available in September 2022.

I have an ATM or a debit card. What else do I need to know?

  • You will receive your new card around the beginning of August: Once you receive your new card, you can activate it at 1-888-333-5982 and use it immediately. Please note that activating your new card will deactivate your old card.

  • You will receive a new card number. Be sure to update your automatic debit card payments: If you have any automatic payments set up with your current card, remember to switch them over to your new card number before your payment withdrawal date. This may include gym memberships, cell phone plan, insurance, streaming services like Netflix or Hulu, or subscriptions like BarkBox.

    If you have direct deposit set up or any recurring transactions using your routing and account number, these will not be impacted.

  • Select a PIN for your new card: For security purposes, your card will not arrive with a PIN. You can set up a PIN when you call to activate your card.

  • If you currently have an ATM card, you will be issued a new card with a new design and card number. However, if you are interested in opening a checking account and ordering a debit card to take advantage of the new features listed above, call us before July 1, 2022.

What new features are coming to credit cards?

  • Contactless or tap-to-pay payment options with a chip: Your credit card will allow you to hold your card to select card readers to make faster, more secure purchases with chip technology. Search for this icon at checkout to see if it’s tap-to-pay enabled:
  • The latest in EMV chip technology: Your personal and card information is more secure thanks to the unique encryption of the chip versus the magnetic strip.

I have a credit card. What else do I need to know?

  • You’ll need to opt into a new card option: Two new card options will be available to you – our Nordstrom FCU Rewards Visa credit card, allowing you to earn points with your purchases, or our Nordstrom FCU Traditional Visa credit card, which is our straightforward, lower rate option.

    More information will be sent to current credit cardholders in coming months about how to select the card of your choice.

    Please note that if you do not select a new card option, your current card will close later this year, which may impact your credit.

  • You should receive a new card that you can activate in late 2022: If you opt in for a new card, it will be ready to use once it’s activated.
